Smile Should roborovski's have greasy fur?

I have noticed that C&C have quite greasy fur. They both have sand baths and they dont really use them. Is there anything i can do to make them have shiny fur? Or is their fur ment to be greasy? You can tell i'm a dwarf beginner

My Dora can sometimes look greasy and sometimes very fluffy. I still haven't figured out what it depends on and if there's a periodicity. But at least with her the problem is that she pees into her sand bath, and then it can't really clean her efficiently. I found that short of using dustier pumice powders, my hams don't get too clean, as I use play sand and don't have access to chinchilla sand easily (and the kind I do comes in small boxes that I would go through in 3 days).

Well they will get greasy fur if they don't use their sandbaths. I had a problem with Heidi not using her sandbath but it just kinda resolved itself. Do they use the sandbaths as toilets or not at all?

I have six robos at the moment, and always have a day where at least one is looking a little greasy, quite often the next day they'll be lovely and fluffy again. As long as they are grooming you haven't anything to worry about. The may get in to digging and rolling in their sand, but may just not be into it. I have one non roller. Carefresh and megazorb are good for robos as they absorb the grease from their fur. I think you use one of these already? You could make them a good digging area to encourage them to get all their fur in it though.

P.S.: re: Carefresh, yes! I've noticed it too that my hams are fluffier sometimes when they don't even have play sand. I think many end up using the sand as their bathroom and then roll in it, keeping their fur greasy. When Dora lost her sand for a while, she was pretty fluffy. But she loves digging in sand too much to live without it.

my robos would always look greasy after i tried to hold them or touch them. i think they are more oiley than the other dwarfs, but i don't know for sure. i just know that my ww hasn't looked greasy and i've had her almost a year and i handle her a lot~ but my robos got that way a lot.
