Default Sandy's little adventure...

Sandy went out last night on an adventure...Unsupervised!!! The little stinker escaped!

I have been using the burrowing maze attachment from super pet critter trail as her nesting house, attached to her other cages. I had the openings for tubes capped off because she doesn't need more tubes. A few nights ago she was peeking through one of the caps at my roommate and he was teasing her by spinning the cap, in no way was he harming her, but this made her realize the caps move...

Ever since then I've noticed she's more interested in the caps, but had no trouble with her. Until last night. I fell asleep on the couch after dinner and Matt went upstairs to feed the hamsters. He noticed Sandy had popped the cap off of her burrowing maze and was free in the bedroom somewhere. Luckily the door had been closed!

Matt says he searched for an hour before waking me up. When I got to our room I started crawling around and calling her with this clicky noise I make to all my hamsters.

She poked her little head out from in between two shirts in our wardrobe and started crying out!!! She had climbed four and a half feet up to the top of the clothes! Matt thinks she was scared to be alone for over an hour.

I scooped her up and checked her for injuries, luckily she's just fine But I won't be using the burrowing nest again until I can secure it better! She's just too clever and mischevious!

I think she really is happy to be home, she slept in my sweatshirt for.two hours yesterday and drooped all.over! She has only ever taken a quick five minute nap on me before! Seems like she missed the food lady, lol

Seems like last night was the night for escaping then!
My new boy Loki went for a wander and I've only had him a couple of days, I was in such a panic when he wasn't in his cage this morning.
Luckily I knew where he had gone as there is only 1 hidey place in my room!
So I moved stuff from the corner and there he was

I'm glad little Sandy was found quickly and she was ok. x

hahaha I can see it now... Sandy and Loki planning in secrecy while we sleep soundly!

I always say I love mischevious hamsters, but the escaping thing is too scary! Gives me sympathy for my parents when I used to come home late lol

Aawww bless little Merlin. They love to escape dont they but then I bet they wish they hadn't when they realise there is no food/water.

Hahaha bout the A team music. I can just picture Sandy and Loki in Mr.T's tank going on an adventure!

I've had gerbils escape before but mine are all easy to find, just shake food and they come running!

What a great little adventure she must have had. I am happy to hear that she is safe and sound .. It must have given you quite a scare for you.

Omg emilyweb! If Sandy got under the floorboards I'd probably start pulling them up trying to find her! (Which would make our landlord very unhappy....) I can't imagine how upsetting that must have been, waiting a whole 24 hrs
