Tell me about the favorite hamster you owned...

Whether it's your current hamster, the one you first had or maybe one that was just special to you.

I want to know about them.

The first hamster I ever had was after my parents had divorced and our pet dog had run away. His name was Muskratt and he was a big golden hamster who was really mellow and very affectionate. When I was young I'd put him on a fire truck toy and drive him around my room and have him battle action figures with me. He got fed everything... this was pre-internet and before I would learn that hamsters shouldn't be fed pizza and other things that were not goo for him. I would also talk to him when I felt the stress from my parents divorce. I had him from the time I was 8 until I was 12 and his death really upset me at time.

One of the last hamsters I eve had was named Charles. When I moved to Chicago I buckled his cage into the passenger seat and he was my co-pilot through the trip. He was a great little black bear and he would often nap on my shoulder when I watched TV or worked on the computer.

I sometimes miss having one. Nowadays having one that's over 8 feet tall, can eat anything and beat up anyone I want without me having to clean a cage every week is nice though!

So tell me about your hamsters, which one was your favorite and why? What were they like? What fond memories do you have?

I have two favourites. Makes me feel a bit guilty saying that. I do love all my hamsters but two of them were just like...I don't know there was something special that's a bit more than love...

Aizen is the first one. He was my neurologically damaged Chinese. I adopted him from P@H. My friend called me up and said they had a Chinese who had been badly shaken (literally shaken) by a kid and didn't seem right at all so there seemed to be no hope in adopting him. I whizzed down there and got him and named him Aizen. I already had another Chinese called Toshiro. So anyways, everytime I tried to touch him he'd literally try to kill me. Cute, eh? Eventually after about 6 months he came to trust me, don't get me wrong he still tried to kill everyone else but he was quite laid-back with me.

The other is my current LH red eyed banded cream, my dear Izuna-Wheatley. Why? Because never has a hamster had so much personality. He's a cuddly, bossy, stubborn and sometimes just down right rude little hamster but I adore him and there is a reason we call him The Boss I can't help but wonder how I'll get through nights when he's done chirping demands at me.
