Hmm, almost seems as if you guys think I am a bad pet owner. I'm not, thank you. Today I'm actually going to head over to a small pet store I found out about. Hopefully they'll have something.

He is in the closet, there is air...I put a small lamp in there so he would have light during the day (So his schedule doesn't get messed up) and secured the door with the laundry basket as an extra measure to make sure the cat doesn't get in

Not a bad pet owner.

Well, I got him a wire cage to live in. Though he is scared of the cat still. Took to sleeping in his wheel. So I closed the closet door again so he could get used to his new cage in some peace and quiet.

That sounds like a good solution. Hope he settles well. We dont think you are a bad owner at all or else you would not be on here expressing your concerns How is you new cat settling in? Does it bother with the hammy. One of mine is interested one does not even look at them. They differ a lot.

The cat can't stop looking at Sakana, freaks the little guy out. Even though he is now in a cage that is cat proof...I still have been keeping the closet door shut.

Should I open it up and let them get used to eachother??

I would open it and let them get used to each other but only under constant supervision obviously. I doubt out cat Cidie would know what to do with a hamster but Kennedy is a hunter and could not be trusted so we keep them in a locked room. He does look at them when we have them out but he has a glint in his eye so we make sure he cannot get near them!

How about some cardboard and poke holes in it? Maybe some wood?
