Well Fuzzy is definitely a female, all be it quite a long-haired one! I have been squinting at her underneath whenever I get the chance and I was pretty sure she was a girl but tonight when I was stroking her she lifted her tail and 'stood' for me so I don't think there is any doubt!
I am wondering though, at the moment she is kept upstairs most of the time and Basil and Sid live downstairs. They get very excited when they smell each other, when I bring Fuzzy down to play or put her in her ball. I had planned to keep all of the hamsters in the spare bedroom when we have finished decorating upstairs but will it be unfair to them if they can smell the opposite sex all of the time? What do other people do who have hamsters of both sexes? I really didn't intend to get a female, I thought she was a male because her hair was so long. She is a little sweetie though, she is already very tame.
