Default Cardboard boxs as homes?

Is it okay for me to use cracker boxes for my hamster as a little house or something?

Or this was what i was thinking isn't it bad for your hamster to be around like ink? I'm not quite shore.....Do any of you use colorful cardboard boxes as homes for ur hamsters? Like the boxes with al the ink writing on them?

We have used all sort of boxes with no problems. As long as the ink is not the water soluble stuff it seems fine. With boxes they tend to either just go in and on them or shred them up but they dont actually injest any of the cardboard. If you are worried you could make boxes with plain card or use the inside of toilet rolls and kitchen rolls.

I always used to give my hamster boxes. Like boxes from kleenex or from my hamburger helper. He would sleep in them as well as chew them up.

Tissue boxes are perfect homes/chew toys! Whichever your hamster chooses to use them for. I had one hamster who lived in her cracker box until I would throw it out and give her a new one but most of my hamsters, chew them up with the greatest enthusiasm!

Just one word of caution though. If you have your hamster(s) in an aquarium without a lid, make sure they can't stand on the box and escape! That I learned from experience!
