Default Just met our new hamster!

My son has fallen in love! She's a little girl, dark brown in colour with sparkly black eyes! She's about 6 weeks now, but we couldn't take her home today as our cage hasn't arrived yet. She was sooooo confident, happy to sit on my little boy's hand, even though she had just been woken up to meet us - in fact, she didn't seem to want to go back in her cage!!! Can't wait to bring her home next weekend and post pics!

Awh, sounds like a little cutie
Sad that you couldn't take her home, but it's best to have everything set up and ready anyway
I'm guessing she's from a breeder? I'd love a breeder hamster..already tame and used to hands etc must've been lovely.
Would also like a little girl hamster who's not grumpy when she wakes up (mine sure is!)
I expect lots of cute photos of her once she's come home with you and settled in

I too wish I had a confident, friendly hamster ...... though I love Fred dearly it's difficult not being able to handle him very much! Your hammy sounds lovely, have you thought of a name yet or are you waiting until you bring her home? It's nice to hear of someone who is willing to wait and make sure everything is ready instead of rushing into things and making the hamster's homecoming stressful. Sounds like your son and the hammy have already started to bond, is it for him? Looking forward to lots of lovely photos soon!

My son's decided on the name Smudge, and we're half way through our third hamster book in preparation!!! Strangely enough, he suddenly loves reading (he's eight) - as long as they're books about hamsters!

Bit of a win win situation when that happens. Preparation is great and it sounds like you are going to be very ready for when smudge arrives home.
