I have got time for my 3, but don't think I could manage any more then 4, so a massive applause for you and all the time you have to dedicate to cleaning out and play time!

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
It must be quite stressful, I know that I am at my limit now and although I would love another, I know that it would push me even further. I am comfortable with my four, and always have in the back of my mind that my boys may have to be split so thats another cage to clean which is more time cleaning etc. I take my hat off to you managing 10 and syrians aswell! Phoebe my syrian is by far the most demanding and I only have one of her!

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
I only just manage with my two!!!
My dwarf, Peanut, is often awake and wanting out, she too feels she ought to live out of the cage - not a good idea with 2 cats and 4 dogs, and all the other hazzards obviously! The problem is when they are so eager and look at you with those big, dark eyes, it's hard to resist no matter what you are supposed to be doing, hammy wins each time!
It's a shame you have no-one who lives close that you would trust who could take a hamster or two from you, I'm sure that would ease the strain. Looks like you'll have to opt for the dark room!

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
I just went back and was reading this thread - its quite funny to me now i now feel like 10 is NOTHING and i need loads, loads more hammies in my life lol i guess it just took some adjusting...that combined with one of the babies getting wet tail in january. i got him through it, and so relieved that he survived...since then it's been a breeze. i make lists, i schedule things, if im sick i ask for help from my parents and older brother. i clean max. of 3 cages in one day as any more is just too much for me. it's all worked itself out i now tell my parents, ya know...i fully intend on keeping the mr nibbles line going - forever. which means soon i'll need to get another hamster, and have another litter...lol theyjust look at me with panic on their faces and say 'i know'...they don't dare dispute me. LOL.

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
My breeder friend has about 17 hamsters right now, all show hamsters, all longhaired, all in ZZ2s!! But her husband and her split the time with them so she still manages to have time to come round and go out occasionally. Each hamster gets playtime every night as she has a very strict routine and me and my housemate often pop round there to help with cage cleaning as she's where we got our hamsters from so we owe her. XD
You sure you'll be able to manage anymore hams, costwise as well? XD

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
Awww, when I read your original posts, I was in awe that you have 10 hamsters and are mindful of giving them all play time and the best care. I have one - and I've found I'm ruled by him (I'm up till silly hours just because he wants out), so I can't imagine being able to handle 10! So, that's pretty amazing of you.
It's pretty cute, the notion that you have lists and there is a schedule...hehe - just remember to take care of you too, so you can take care of them!

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
I'm glad you're managing well I know syrians are quite demanding for interaction. I feel fairly free with 3 of my hamsters, but they are really more like 1.5, because my robos are a pair and are mostly self sufficient for entertainment. Lucy gets more individual attention because she lives alone and likes to come out. If i had 3 of Lucy, I'd have my hands full right there!

Re: 10 take a toll on me....
Do most of you have syrians? Just curious, cos I can't say that any of my hams past or present have been demanding and seeing as nearly all of them were/are dwarfs I thought it may be a Syrian thing. I have 6 hamsters ATM, but I don't find them demanding even though I have lots of other pets too. They all live out in my rodent shed, and although I see them everyday and hold/play and interact with them, they don't get floor time with me as it just isn't practical to do so. They don't get bored, however, nor come to beg at the front of the cage often and start chewing the cage bars whereas the syrians I had would do that, so is it a Syrian thing? Or am I just lucky to get non-demanding hamsters!?

I can't possibly imagine how tough it must be for you, sometimes I feel like I struggle with my two!
