Smile Random Waffle...

I really really really want an Imac fantasy, now I've seen them.. I am so tempted when a second hand one comes up on Ebay to buy it.. But then am worried what if I end up with another Bar-chewer...

I've got a perfectly good barred caged in my garage, but it's not as pretty as the imac..

Can a syrian live in one without extension (until you can afford one) Or is it wayyyy too small???

Also I am desperate for a long - haired syrian, since I've seen the little fluff balls.. I never see any in pets @ home though so does everyone get theres from a breeder or something???

I'm 19 so I should be allowed to make my own decisions, but me and my partner have just moved back in with my mum, and she has our two terrapins in a massive tank taking up the hallway and then my hamster taking up her whole shelf unit in his zoo zone 2, So she has literally no space for another hamster...

I could keep it in my room, but then am worried I may get a crazy bar chewing maniac noisy hamster like Hammy, and what would I do then?? I use to get so frustrated with Hammy banging in his plastic cage I'd be crying for work, luckily with his new wheel and Zoo Zone he's silent... But imagine I get a very very loud hamster there is no way on this earth I could keep it in my bedroom, and no space downstairs so what would I do?? The only way I could let my mum to agree to let me have another is if I promise it would stay in my room...

Thing is Hammy is sooooo lazy, I only literally get to handle him once a week.. He's awake 12/1am - 7-7.30am and nothing I can do to change his routine, he just does not want to know.. I will physically open his bed and wake him up, and it will take 6/7 attempts before he will get out his bed.. and If he does he wanders round and goes straight back in.. Of course when I'm asleep he goes crazy and plays on his toys so I know he is perfectly healthy.. Just stubborn and lazy. Anyway I wish I had a hamster I could play with...

Rant over THANK YOU

I'm not sure on the cage side of things as its not really my thing sorry maybe its best to reproduce the conditions you have with Hammy as he's nice and quite yet occupied, it's hard to find a long haired syrian. i waited years till Peanut came along as there aren't any breeders near me just a pet store...This is Peanut below.

A lot of long hairs come from pet shops, it just depends on the individual pet shop.
Porridgeis long haired, I believe he was orginally from pets at home before I rehomed him from his original owners
Sometimes, as nice as one particular cage is, if it's not going to suit your situation at the moment it's best to leave it. They'll be time in future when you could get it!
Although bar chewing is very common nowadays, some hamsters don't.
Porridge doesn't bar chew at all and I'm very lucky since he's in my bedroom it would drive me insane
I think the fact he has a big cage, gets at least 20 minutes floortime each evening and a big 10" wheel means he has no reason to bar chew.
Maybe you could rehome an older hamster that the owner can confirm isn't a bar chewer?

Oh and also, the imac fantasy is ok without the extension to start with ( I believe it has similar floor space to the savic Cambridge) I've seen it used nicely without the extension.
But it is still encouraged to eventually extend it as the hamster grows

I see Longhaired Syrians in my Pets@Home all the time.. sometimes you can request certain breeds/coulerations of Hamsters. But as always i do not reccomend buying from a Petshop.. But if thats the only way you are able to get hold of a Hamster then..I guess you'll have to buy it from a petstore?
Anyways. sorry i couldnt help on the Cage front. Goodluck on your hunt
