Unexpected hot weather issue!!
I have just walked down my stairs to find a black cat coming up them!!!! It shot off as soon as it saw me, but nevertheless it had made it's way in, and was half way up the stairs to finding all the poms . As I don't have any other pets, two of my cages that don't have higher levels are open at all times, and it could have been a disaster. I have the patio doors from the kitchen, and a door from my lounge open, and have had for the whole of the heatwave, without issue until today.
I don't like to shut the doors to the hamster rooms in this heat, so I think not only will all cages be shut, they will also be locked till the heatwave is over!

Yikes, thats a close call! I'm really glad you saw the cat though! Least now you know you've got really sneaky cats around I guess...

Re: Unexpected hot weather issue!!
My chief suspect is murder cat, there are three black cats that live in my close, murder cat is the bravest, always in everyone's gardens, and carries off far too many of the beautiful birds with his sadly expert hunting skills. I know he's just being a cat, and I love cats, but I kind of hate him.

Re: Unexpected hot weather issue!!
Locking up is a good idea. The cat knows the hammies are there and to him they are food. It's just the way things are. The heat must have been truly brutal to all stray cats and dogs too. I've finally been able to turn off the air conditioner today. The heat has broken here in New York City.
