Default Rescue hams

I took in a couple of rescue syrians the other day. One of which has 2 day old babies and the other is pregnant also

The guy i got them off of also had a pair of gerbils, which i also took off him and a friend of mine is looking after them (One of those was also pregnant)

The two syrians were living together in a tiny cage

Poor girls

I have named them Bella and Brooke

Here is a video i filmed an hour after the babies were born (had to sneak it when mummy wasnt looking)

YouTube - Hamster babies

No idea how many she has had yet, and no idea where to put them all. Will have to rehome some

Poor little mama ham and well done you for taking them on.
Is she staying with them as her behavior looks stressed in the film? Our mums never come off the nest except for food and toilet at this age normally.
The house is way too small for a growing litter. Should she move they out that house into an open nest I would very quickly remove that house and leave her with just a pile of that tissue bedding you have. They will outgrow it in a few days. They grow very fast. Give her as much privacy, peace and quiet as you can and be sure not to touch the babies or the nest.
If the other mum has a house take it out before she delivers in it!
Welcome to the forum and good luck with the babies.
Read this and you will find all you need to know about caring for them.

Awww Sarah you are amazing taking these little ones on, they didnt stand a chance where they were (wish I could swear about the horrible former owner), how is the little mummy today? Have you got any homes for any of the babies yet? The mummy gerbil is a bit bigger today so I dont think its going to be too long till she has her babies, at least they are seperated now so she wont have repeated pregnancies to have to go through.

The house was only temp as i was stuck. They had been here a day when she gave birth and i certainly wasnt expecting it

Shes a very good mummy. She stays on the nest and only comes out for food or water

They have a huge box in there now so she can move them when she wants to
