ok so I'm looking for a new hamster food for my dwarfs [robo and Chinese]

i have them on a pelted food at the moment but my Chinese hamsters seem to have not taken to it all that well despite me using the gradual feeding method.

i was looking for a hamster food with no sunflower/peanuts mixed in with it, so if anyone uses one please let me know.

I'm also looking for homemade hamster recipes if anyone has any that don't use hamster food as a base ...

thanks (:

Unfortunately i have to manually pick out the peanuts, dried fruit, and any sunflower seeds (he gets one or two per week). So good luck with that!

really? It is important that your hamsters have a good quality hamster mix, especially if your going to be breeding!
I carefully inspect every food i buy to insure it has everything i want and doesn't have anything i don't want.
If you get something different everytime without gradual changeover it could cause stomach upsets.
They will eat it because its their only choice, doesn't mean to say whether they particularly enjoy it compared to another food.

I use P@H muesli mix, which isn't recommended by many, as most prefer Harry Hamster, but mine seem to have no problem with it and are extremely healthy

Though, if they did start having problems I would change the mix immediately, or maybe just remove the pea flakes as these can have a high content of sugar which can upset some hammys tummies

I think it is the hamsters preference so you may just have to get a mix and then add fruit or vegetables to it to make the hamster more likely to eat that food Not too much fruit and veg though

yea i wont just grab any food that's just not good. My hamsters where on the p@h mix but i had noticed they are getting a little fat and switched their food to a pelleted diet. i know about the gradual changeover and its what i do if i change their food.

I just wanted a base mix really with no peanuts or sunflower seeds that was healthy [i have a sunflower seeds and peanuts that are treats only.] to save me having to pick them all out.

Anyone tried making their own mixes? like a complete mix?
