Re: hammy chocolate.
A choc drop or yoguart drop maybe once a week is fine. I wouldn't give every day and certainly try some of the other food listed in the safe good guide. Just remember to introduce new food slowly to ensure no tummy upsets.

Re: hammy chocolate.
well i couldnt really think of one so i just put my hammy's name i am going to try gav with some carrott later when she decides to get up. She was very energetic last night though so i will forgive her. She has taken to sleeping outside of her igloo now the whether is warmer but i would of thought she would burrow a bit or drag a bit of her shredded paper to make a summer bed but she just sleeps in the corner. Seems happy enough to do so though xxx

Re: hammy chocolate.
oh thats good to know that gav isnt alone! i have another question actually, completely off topic ha, but i was wondering what was correct regarding hamsters and windows. atm my desk is right next to the window, meaning that gav is near the window. i have pulled the curtain across she isnt in direct sunlight, but since we've been having such nice weather my room is scorching! but i also know that hammies are very susceptable to colds and stuff so do you think opening my window a bit would harm her? it is so hot in my room atm, do you think gav may appreciate the slight breeze or should i put her cage on the floor for when i want to open my window?
thanks xxx

Re: hammy chocolate.
She will be ok aslong as the breeze is not directly into the cage, when it is hot in my room I put a fan on the floor, Maisies cage is on my chest of drawers so she gets a slight breeze but not too much, I wouldn't keep her cage by the window as in the winter the cold from the window may persuade her to hibernate or could cause her to get ill. I keep Maisie against a wall in the middle of the room so she isn't too close to the window, radiator or door, although this will rely on how much available space you have. Hope this has helped

Re: hammy chocolate.
tbh with you, the rooms at uni are so small and they cram so many people into the buildings that the chance of them being remotely cold would be wonderful. and because of health and safety, the windows open no more than about 3 inches. so no real breeze can come through. its awful. in winter it was literally no colder than what it is now. i wouldnt like to chance it though, i will keep her cage on the floor until i go home xxx thanks for your help

Re: hammy chocolate.
Thats ok if you open the window on the jar and keep the curtains closed that should be ok, as the breeze wont hit the cage directly.
I know what you mean with the halls, theres just enough room to have a stretch in the morning lol. xx
