Lemon
I hope this is the right section to post within.
Chaucer is a right little nibbler these days. I have plenty of wooden toys, some cardboard and even chewy sticks for her to get her gnashers around. She'll briefly give them a chew, but it's CONSTANTLY chewing the corner of her cage. One bar has no paint on it, and she's slowly chering the paint off the others but defo seems to prefer this one.
I put a hanging chew toy in that corner, she just nudged it out of the way. I swapped that for a strawberry shaped salt lick thing, she just chews above it....
Anyway, upon researching the matter I have found many suggestions to use lemon juice. Supposedly they don't like the taste, so move on. However other websites say do not give them citrus.
I'm confused! And concerned, as she has a little dent on her nose now )=

Re: Lemon
well it best to avoid really as she could just lick it all off and make her ill.
I was suggested vasaline until i found out it was bad to use!
My solution was just loads of playtime and interesting things in her cage veryday. Which reduced the chewing a lot but didn't get rid of it. So i eventually changed over toa plastic tank style which solved it all together

Re: Lemon
She has plenty of toys, esp chewy ones. And I get her out every evening and she has plenty of ball time.
I also give her dog chews, yep.
She's a super fast little thing. She whizzes around everywhere. My boyfriend can pick her up with ease and tried to teach me the technique, but his hands are bigger - she squirms a lot in my hands )=

Re: Lemon
Oh dear, she is a little madam isnt she?
Could you cable tie a toy to the bars where she chews so that she cant reach the spot anymore? Or clipping fruit/veg to the cage with pegs.
I really wouldn't use lemon, its not good for them if they injest it, and having a strange smell in 'her' cage will likely stress her further.
If none of this works then a plastic or glass tank instead of a wire cage maybe the best option.

Re: Lemon
Try cardboard or paper stuff... like those paper boxes for paper tissues you know? My hamster seems to like them...they get in and then make escape holes... My hamster is also very squirmy!!!
