Default Dwarf dry mixes at Zooplus...

Are any of the 'dwarf dry mixes' at Zooplus actually suitable for Russian Campbells? I was looking at them just now and most have fruits in, one had quite a lot and I'm not sure I would have even given it to Kitty or any of my other syrians, but one stood out for me.

This one...
Prestige Hamster Crispy - Great Deals on Hamster Food at zooplus

It has got peas in, but no fruits. It seems pretty safe with lots of seedy-type things in. Is it any good?

The protein is a bit low in it - but apart from that it looks OK.

What if I added some chopped up dried mealworms to it? They do get either a few flakes of fish or some shreds of chicken every night for extra protein though.
It would only be a base mix, I would be adding other little bits to it like the puffed rice etc. Would that be OK?

Hi guys,
we just looked at our dry food "hamster muesli" mix we got as a package deal wiv our cage @ petsathome... the ingredients are:

toasted pea flake,wheat,toasted maize flakes,wheatfeed,toasted soya flakes,oatfeed,peanuts (min,4%), sunflower ext., grass,whole maize,apple,grape,banana flakes,vitamins&minerals, vegetable oil,syrup, lucerne, linseed,carob meal. with antioxidant:ec additive.

we have an adopted russian campbell dwarf hammie. we deliberately didn't buy any fruit (for r ham) in our weekly shop yesterday. only spinach, cucumbers and romaine lettuce as they are dwarf friendly foods. but now we are concerned about r dry mix..
would youse recommend we find an alternative?

I know they are silly small bags. And if buying from the net the postage is £5.99 for 9 bags

Ive got a local pet shop that sells them. Ive now got three dwarf hammys so will need to go back soon & buy some more. Last time I went I only had one so didn't think about bulk buying but this time I will ask if I bulk buy will I get it any cheeper.

You can get most if not all of those things at a health food store. Can you not just buy the different flakes and peas and things and mix your own?

I wouldn't know where to get poultry fat . Also I wouldn't get the same nutritional values as these. How would I know if the food I made up is of the same values

I thought poultry fat was only used as a preservative and because it's cheap? You could leave it out and if you need to bring the fat content up you should be able to achieve it easily with nuts and seeds!
