Default My winter white dwarf hamster is not drinking!

So I recently bought a hamster (Yesterday) But hes been very active (using his wheel, exploring, eating) But hes not drinking! At the pet shop, they were using a water bottle to give him water but ever since he came into my house Ive put a water dish for him to drink in, the water dish is 3 centimeters high and 6 centimeters in diameter. He sadly never went to drink in my 8 hours of watching him at a long distance. Im scared that he doesnt know how to use a water dish. Should I go for a water bottle since hes been drinking from one?

It could be that he isn't used to a water bowl but I don't think he will allow himself to get seriously dehydrated all the while there is water in his enclosure. However I would always provide a water bottle in addition to a bowl, in case the bowl is tipped over or filled with bedding, and so that the hamster has a choice. You could give him some fresh food such as cucumber for now to make sure he has taken in some fluid.
