Post Need some advice on food

Hey, am new to the site. I reecently got my my first hamster and found HC really helpful, so I'm hoping someone can help me with a few little queries thanks.

Q1. I bought some freeze dried chicken from Etsy, and googled about freeze dried items but still not sure about it. So the first thing is how do i store them. Does it go in the fridge or can i store them in one of them Kilner jars out of the fridge? Also do i need to heat or rehydrate the chicken or can I just give them straight to my hamster from the package? It looks like it's already been cooked, but because it's freeze dried am not sure if it's edible without doing anything to it.

Q2. I watched videos of this YouTuber making cookies etc. One of the items she made included things like millet etc. I saw in Holland and Barrett they sell Millet flakes. However as the stuff in there is for human consumption, I had a look at the ingredients. It said it has 100% millet flakes but in the additional advisory information it states "May also contain milk, nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, soya, gluten and sulphites." I assume that means I can't use this for the hamster due to the potential milk and sulphites? If so where would I be able get a pack of loose millet suitable hamsters, to make cookies with?
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any help I receive 😁

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have freeze dried chicken from Etsy so perhaps we have the same one. I keep it in the sealed packet it comes in. You could store it in a kilner jar too. I just give it how it comes.

Companies just have to cover themselves in case of any contamination in their factories. I use items from Holland & Barrett for my hamster so it is fine to use. What a lucky hamster to have you make them some cookies.
