I just came across this sugar free pancake recipe.

Quite fancy that and the hamsters could have a bit too.

For my breakfast and their supper or my supper and their breakfast.

That sounds nice. I look forward to seeing what your hamsters think of pancakes when you try it out.

That ingredients list does look like a dream for a hamster! Finally, a use for those little dribbles of batter that turn into mini pancakes

I used to make those kind of drop scone pancakes a lot - very popular here. I made sugar free ones by mistake once! ie forgot to put the sugar in. They were just the same but no sugar lol. There's a good recipe in the Bero book.

But good idea to make sugar free ones for hamsters (you can always put fruit or jam on them to sweeten them up for humans!).

Good thread for hamster suitable recipes as well. I made one up once - to make a hamster birthday cake. It looked good but think it was a bit tasteless!

Those pancakes shouldn't need sugar because the sweetness comes from the bananas. I think half the recipe would be enough. I'll add my biscuits recipe as well i use for hamster birthday cakes.
I really fancy pancakes now.

Biscuits

Peel one banana and weigh it.
Mash banana and mix with one egg.
Add weight of banana + 30g of porridge oats.
Add chopped nuts and a few raisins.

Line baking tray with baking paper and place dollops of mixture on it then bake at 180C for ca 10mins or until set.

Takes a bit longer if baked as a flabjack slab.

I used to add cinnamon but read that its not good for hamsters. Not sure that's true but now i keep some spices free mixture back for the hamsters and add cinnamon, nutmeg etc for the humans.

I will try that! Yes better not to use spices for hamsters - cinnamon can even upset humans (OH says it gives him diarrhoea so I'm not allowed to use it any more).

Not quite sure what it means when it says "add weight of banana" plus 30g porridge oats. Do you mean mashed banana and egg's weight of porridge oats plus another 30g porridge oats?

This was the hamster birthday cake I did (a few years ago now when I had time to faff about and make a video ). Done it twice - hamsters ate the filling but not the cake ha ha - I think it needed more walnuts and pumpkin seeds in it. Beating the egg white was to get it to rise without raising agent. I actually think, on a special occasion, a bit of sugar is probably ok.

I do like the sound of those biscuits Ria. I also fancy pancakes now!

I meant to weigh the peeled, whole banana first which weighs, let's say 100g plus 30g = 130g of porridge oats.
