Default Monkey Nuts

Hi all, I’ve just been using the search facility to look for info on Monkey Nuts. There are always a couple of these in the Harry Hamster mix and Hams loves them so I was hoping to buy a bag to give as an occasional treat as they would be great for hiding. Has anyone brought them recently, do you just buy from a health food shop?

I saw on another thread re healthy treats there is a brand called Mr Johnson’s that contains sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds etc which look good also. Hams always nibbles the sunflower seeds first

Yes, any sold for human consumption are fine. Supermarkets sometimes sell them as well.

I'm more cautious with peanuts/monkey nuts sold for wild birds as they may not be held to the same quality standards as those intended for humans.

Fabulous! Thank you, I’ll be looking for these next time I’m out or at the Supermarket.

I buy the Mr Johnsons seed mix in the petshop and hide them in the free roaming areas so they can have a snack while roaming around.

I buy the monkey nuts for my OH and the hamsters from Tesco or any supermarket.

Yes just buy human grade ones and you'll be fine . I get sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds from the supermarket. Agree I wouldn't buy peanuts as the grade varies hugely. But monkey nuts (peanuts in shells) are fine. I used to get those in the supermarket too.

Super, thanks everyone. I’ve ordered the Mr Johnson seed mix and will look out for the monkey nuts in my next supermarket trip.
