Lightbulb introducing foraging??

so basically i have a 8 month old dwarf hamster who's been eating out of a bowl the entire time he's been living with me and i'm trying to include more enrichment in his life. i recently learned that enrichment includes foraging, which i've been doing some of by sprinkling treats around his cage, but i've realized that foraging is more than that. some hamster youtubers have suggested sprinkling food around his cage and using sprays which i would like to do but i'm kind of uneasy about it since he's not used to it (i know foraging is in their nature but he's very used to eating from a bowl) and i worry that i'll accidentally starve him if i don't do it right. does anyone have any advice about how to do this correctly? or what do you personally do for your hamster when it comes to foraging?

Default Re: introducing foraging??

50/50. Half the food mix in the bowl and the other half sprinkled around the cage.

A hamster wouldn't starve because they have to forage for their food because finding food to add to their hoards is what hamsters do.

Additionals like millet sprays, whimzees, hamster herbs, shrimp cookies, mealworms etc do enrich hamsters lives so are always welcome.

Just keep away from anything fruity or honey based because dwarfs are prone to diabetes.
