Question Healthiest Hamster Treats?

Hi there,

Just looking for some info on the healthiest hamster treats.

I have 2 syrians at the moment. Spidey F 7 mos and have just in the last few days rescued Ali G M 4 mos.

He is friendly but not used to being handled quite yet.

Ideally I like to use treats for taming as I have always found food is the way to a hamsters heart.

Spidey loves berry flavoured anything, particularly the Vitakraft Wild Berry Drops. However, these are obviously not the best health-wise.

As she's getting a little older, and as I'd rather not use them in excess to tame Ali G, does anyone have any suggestions?

I've been giving them peanuts which they both LOVE!

Cheers

Sunflower seeds in the shell and pumpkin seeds or a pinch of brown linseeds on your palm to lick off.

The way to my Syrians hearts isn't food but freedom which was also their reward after taming sessions.

Thank you Ria, annoying pet shops locally don’t sell these things targeted at hammys. I will see if I can get a job lot of sunflower/pumpkin seeds from sainsburys.

Much appreciated advice

I have 3 dwarf hamsters that like a seed mix I pick up from aldi, it has pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds golden linseed hemp seeds, my female hamster loves these, it does say might contain peanuts and sesame seeds, which are all fine for hamsters, it says it's 100% natural. My 2 boy hamsters like the chicken dreamies for cats, also poundstrechers does a pets range which has the sunflower seeds still in the shell, my hamsters like theses too. Mine also love white cabbage.

Not sure if other people have mentioned this, but my Dwarf hamster loves small amounts of lettuce, apple, banana, peanut butter/peanuts and a lot of other stuff. I like giving her different things and seeing what she likes. Something that is probably not really seen being fed to hamsters is salmon XD. It's definitely one of the more exotic foods to give hamsters but we eat a lot of salmon so I give her little pieces of it (when cooked) and she LOVES it. You can also give cheese, hard boiled egg and other stuff for extra protein. You can basically give hamsters anything (Google it first just to be sure) but try different things to see what he/she likes! I hope this was helpful!!
