Question Harry Hamster and expiration

Hi!

So I managed to purchase 4 bags of unopened harry hamster food (700g) off of facebook yesterday for £10 (it came in a bundle with a carrier, kaytee cozy and fresh, spray and wooden house so that's why I got the deal) But noticed there's a BBE which is August 2021.

Not long... there is no way I'm going to use all this before August. Is there a way to "preserve" food or will it still stay good?

Upon research, unopened food is most likely going to last longer as it's sealed and air can't keep creeping in. However, will not hold as much nutrition as before.

Some people say you can put it in the fridge, but wanted to see what peoples opinions are??

Default Re: Harry Hamster and expiration

I have had Harry Hamster food before that has been close to it's BB date so I just gave it away for free on a local facebook group or my local hamster rescue. I would rather it be used up, before it got too old and stale and like you said, not as nutritious.

Even if you froze it, or kept in the fridge, a bag of HH normally lasts a while, and I would rather my hamster was getting something a bit fresher.

Just my own opinion, like you interested to see what others say.
