Question Are these safe for hammies?

Went out today and went into poundstretch, found they had an animal isle and was very curious to see if they had the whimzee type dog chews in and they did.

Couldn't go wrong, literally dead on £1 but wanna check if these are safe.

They are exactly like the whimzee chews (and alligator shaped) but wanted to check if the brand is safe.

Back packaging (ingredients):

Not 100% sure, for me I would be worried about the kelp - iodine/salt ??? but it is pretty low down on the list and also the artificial caramel colouring

I think everything else looks ok, maybe someone else will know better than me.

Looks ok to me. Caramel is probably ok for colouring. Dried tomato might be iffy. Some people say hamsters shouldn't have tomatoes - others say a little bit is ok. Personally I'd stick with the whimzees. These are the ingredients of Whimzee alligators - slightly less iffy things.:

POTATO STARCH, GLYCERIN, POWDERED CELLULOSE, LECITHIN, DRIED YEAST, MALT EXTRACT, SWEET LUPINE MEAL, ALFALFA EXTRACT, PAPRIKA EXTRACT

Ah! I do want to get my hands on whimzee's but haven't found any in my area as of yet. I did look in a few shops today for them.

As with tomatoes, highly debated but I've spoke to a few people on FB about it and they said it's ok to give a very small amount of tomato. (like half a teaspoon) so I guess that's not really 100%. I'll give it to him as an odd occasional treat and take it out when I'm not monitoring him.

They look fine as an occasional treat. I have some green seahorse-shaped chews identical to these in terms of ingredients, which I give my gerbils occasionally without any problems. They prefer real Whimzees though!

The kelp looks like it's a trace amount so it should be fine and tomato is also ok. There are some concerns about the acidity but that won't be relevant when it's processed into a chew like this. I regularly feed fresh tomato anyway.

Phew, thank you so much! I was planning to give as a "treat" since I compared the ingredients to whimzee's and was slightly worried. But wanted to double check 100% if they are definitely safe to give at least with moderation and observation... Thank you so much!

As of for whimzees - yes, will be trying to grab these at some point.

The only thing I'd be worried about it the artificial coloring. Artificial colors can be extremely harmful to hamsters because they are so delicate. Everything else looks fine. I saw that some other people were concerned about the kelp/iodine but I definitely wouldn't be worried about these. Kelp actually has a lot of vitamins and is really healthy. Iodine is a neccessary mineral so it's also good (I take it daily )
