Good hamster food for male Syrian.
Hi all, again! Been posting a lot this week but been trying to remake what space I have a lot better and entertaining for my little guy and fix some troublesome stuff.
Anyway, I've had my hamster on this £7 feed mix that contains dried fruit mixed in with the usual hamster food. However, wondering if there's a cheaper alternative that also include dried fruit in? Or something that is really healthy for a hamster.
I'm about halfway through my big box I've had for about 3 months now almost but if I'm to change his food it's best I start now so I can introduce it slowly. I'm asking because the pet food I get now is only by this one pet shop called Browns pet shop that's close to me. There's no other brown pet shop near me and I know having to rely on this one store is not good since they can either suddenly close down or be out of stock and it's their own brand food.
Is there another very food (and possibly cheaper) mix that I can get for my hamster? That can be sold in multiple places such as pets at home, on amazon etc.
Let me know of any good ones! Of course I'm trying to feed my hamster fresh fruit and vege each week but it's taking some time to get him to try it and get him used to it slowly over time.
Many thanks!
- Immy and Remy

Re: Good hamster food for male Syrian.
I feed my Syrians Harry Hamster and the Bunny Dreams Basic from Zooplus. Those two mixes are quite different in texture so gives them variety.
I keep away from mixes with a lot of dried fruit like Mr Johnson's and give them a bit of fresh fruit with their fresh veg and salad instead.

Do you mix both of those foods together? Or is it possible to just purchase one of them?
What do you think about Cripsy Muesli?

Re: Good hamster food for male Syrian.
I don't mix them but put them both in the same bowl or sometimes i scatter one of them.
Harry Hamster you can get anywhere, petsathome, The Range etc. It's a good allrounder, has everything a hamster needs and it doesn't have added sugars. The hamsters don't eat it all and have their likes and dislikes just like humans.
Bunny Dreams is from Zooplus online.
I've tried Rodipet before and ratrations but never the Crispy Muesli.
Some people here know a lot about nutrition and balanced diets but i don't.
I simply get the Harry Hamster for the Syrians and Zooplus food for the dwarfs because i can't find small textured food in the shops then give them allsorts of additional foods in small quanities.
