Question Timothy hay and rose petal from P@H

Hi there!

I'm making a ton of posts, and as I know a lot about hamsters I still like to double check I have my info right from all these years of studying.

I know that people add "treats" that contain different petals of flowers to make the cage smell nice.

One of these was pets at home's timothy hay & rose petal. I put it in and I noticed my hamster came out right away to check out what's new. I've scattered like 3 pinches around my hamsters cage, he sniffed one of the rose petals, tried to nibble but looked like he pulled a face. Are the petals not for eating like I assumed so from other peoples videos over the years since that's what they said. Or are they just added to the timothy hay to provide a nice scent from the cage?

I never heard of people giving hamsters petals of flowers to make the cage smell nice.
I scatter herbs and flower petals as an enrichment for the hamster to forage for and nibble on. Different hamsters like different things, some like to nibble on roses and others prefer parsley.
I think the hay and rose petals are edible but your hamster doesn't seem to like them wheras another might.
