How Much Popcorn?
I bought Toffee some of those hamster popcorn cobs that you put in the microwave. They are great big cobs and, having cooked one, I wondered whether I should have cut it in half before microwaving it. The pile of popcorn looks bigger than he does! (He's a Syrian, approx 4 months old.) Should I hang the whole cob in his cage and let him nibble at it over a few days, or is it better to cut a bit off and give it to him is sections? I'm trying to give him things that will make him 'work' a bit, because he's a little bit lazy. However, I don't want to give him so many treats that he won't eat his normal food.

Re: How Much Popcorn?
i've never seen these so i can't visulise how big it is?
But i would say maybe only put it in for a couple of hours then take it out and give him in another day. That way it lasts longer and he can look forward to it as a treat.
Thats what i do with the honey coated nut knaw sticks.

I'm not sure what these are. We buy the corns on the cobs but we just give them whole to the hams who strip and store the kernals quite quickly! I have never microwaved them before.

Re: How Much Popcorn?
is it the little ones approximately 10cm in length.you get them in packs of 2 or 6 i think.and then you microwave them and they make little popcorn pieces and pops on the actual cob thing.if they are these ones it should be fine giving them to the hamster that size

Re: How Much Popcorn?
I've seen those before in pets at home but never tried one, although I did try a human one and nearly set fire to the microwave..... oops
You could maybe put the popcorn in a plastic tub or something and give him a few bits each day or something? or are all the pieces still stuck to the cob?

Re: How Much Popcorn?
Yes, that's it - the Pets at Home ones. The popped corn is all stuck to the cob, so should I just put the whole cob in his cage? It's smaller than a normal corn cob, but still pretty big for a hamster.
