Re: RatRations Lavenders mix
I wouldn't give the Bunny one on it's own just because the pieces are all so tiny for a Syrian with lots of tiny seeds. But I like mixing it with the Rodipet one for the variety and the mealworms in the Bunny one plus the Bunny one doesn't have Soya - so less soya overall. The rodipet has soya but it's organic soya. I just prefer not to have all the protein as soya. Even with those two mixed, it's still a bit low on protein so that needs supplementing.

Re: RatRations Lavenders mix
For additional protein you could either supplement with fresh food or freeze dried chicken, the odd nut etc. I also now give a few science selective pellets as well as the mix. That's the all in one pellet food. Or you could mix a Third each science selective, Rodipet and Bunny.

Re: RatRations Lavenders mix
Even then it's good to supplement the protein a bit in the first year at least.

Re: RatRations Lavenders mix
Harry Hamster is the easy option - it has everything in that's needed, no sugar and correct level of protein - and hamsters seem to like it! I like the Rodipet and Bunny mixes though as better variety and the Rodipet one is organic -but then you have to supplement the protein. I do find quite a bit gets left (unlike with HH) which is why I started giving 2 or 3 science selective pellets as treats to make sure the balance is there. They seem to like those!

My past hamsters (1 robo, 2 Syrians) all refused to touch Harry hamster for some reason

I could understand the robo cause they're quite big pieces but she actual tolerated it the best!
