Treats for taming
What are the best treats for taming a hamster?
He's a Syrian, he likes yoghurt drops but obviously can't have very many of them

Re: Treats for taming
I've to admit, most Syrians I've known of weren't really fond of them either. The dwarves seem to be addicted to them, though!
Mealworms on the other hand is loved by most hamsters it seems. I hope it works out!

Re: Treats for taming
I like to use mealworms, pumkin seeds, dried shrimp, fresh vegetables, walnut, flax seeds (linseeds), chia seeds, baby food (hamster safe, no garlic, spices, pork) and I also like to smear peanut butter on my finger. I like to do this beacause it’s a great way to get your hamster used to you. Make sure it’s just a smear on your finger so he has to lick it off. Try to get a peanut butter that has only roasted peanuts. Make sure not to get a peanut butter with xylitol it may be toxic to hamsters.

Thank you! I can't handle nuts but I'll definitely try some of the others, especially the baby food

Re: Treats for taming
my syrian loves cheese! I try to just give him a little but he goes mad for it, he also likes strawberries and garden peas, oh and I buy boodles (butternut squash noodles) from sainsburys - he goes nuts for it!
