Default Mineral Blocks

I've seen quite a lot of mineral blocks in pet sotres and online. Is this something you're supposed to give your hamster to supplement their diet?

You can and I have brought a couple in the past but I don't think its essential or anything! The ones I got were really powdery and went everywhere so I didn't really bother after that although my hamsters did seem quite interested in them so maybe I'll try again with them one day

My hamster Sprout has mineral stones in the shape of a bunch of grapes...
He loves them and really enjoys chewing them

As long as your hamster is getting a complete, balanced diet then they're not necessary. It's important to have a good quality mix though and it's good to give them veg/pasta/egg/baby food etc a couple of times a week.

My hamsters are on Harry Hamster which I've mixed some porridge oats in because it's winter and been pretty cold recently. They love their veg/chicken/pasta/egg/baby food/millet and Bonios (which are fab for their teeth).

I've personally never used them, never seen the point. I've never had any problems. I also know a lot of people who've bought them and their hamsters have totally ignored it.

My hamster totally ignores it. It just has a few scratches on it.

I give my hamster little bits of egg and veg at the moment as well as the occasional whole walnut (it's fun watching her try to open it). I might try giving Bonio a go to see how she gets on with them.
