Default When is 'elderly' and does the diet change?

I'm asking this in a seperate thread because I do tend to meander off on different questions that get lost at the end of threads

So...Kas being a rescue we aren't entirely certain of birthday but she was said to be a little over a year when she went for her spay in August although the vet reckoned she was 18 months based on when girlie hammies tend to get pyometra. That would put her at either 18 months now or 2 years depending on what you go with.

Is this termed elderly for hammies?Do they even have an elderly phase? and does she need extra or less of any particular type of food at this age?

Hamsters age at different rates but I would classify anything over 16-18months as fairly elderly. Females tend to age more quickly than males I think,
There is a useful article here on the wiki that might help

We give our oldies more frequent porridge with wheatgerm in it and also babyfood from time to team. The also appreciate oily seeds like sunflower hearts.
