What do Harry Hamster's filler look like?
My hamster isn't eating pellets from the Harry hamster mix.
I don't know whether it's fussy eating or that she doesn't the like filler (like most hamsters).
If it's the filler then I can throw it away as it contains minute amounts of nutrition.
What does the filler look like?

Re: What do Harry Hamster's filler look like?
There is no filler in Harry Hamster or most good quality hamster food, sometimes the vitamins are added to the pellets or biscuit pieces so you can't really throw anything away without altering the nutritional value.
How often do you feed & do you refill the bowl before all the food has gone?
It's not really a problem is they leave the odd bit but if you give more food before most of it has been eaten then they can get picky & just wait for the tastiest bits!

Thank you, I'll make sure she eats all her food. Normally she eats all her food in 3/4 days (including fresh veg and most of her hoard) but recently she's gotten fussy and will eat everything apart from one type of pellet.
I always give her food once the bowl is empty.

Re: What do Harry Hamster's filler look like?
Don't worry my hamster is the same. He eats all his favourite parts of Harry Hamster mix first and ignores the pellets too. I think this is a common occurrence with muesli style mixes as they can pick and choose what to eat and become a bit fussy!
If you leave them in the bowl eventually she will realise that to get more food she has to eat them; as cypher says the biscuits and pellets are healthy parts of the mix that keep it nutritionally balanced.

It sounds as though you're doing everything right with feeding, as long as it's not too much I wouldn't worry about a few pellets but keep trying to encourage her to eat all her mix if you can.
