Fruit , veggies and proteins and carbs
As a first time hamster owner ( done as much research as I possibly can ) how much should you give them fresh fruit /veggies and things like eggs / chicken pasta ect , don’t want to overdo it and don’t want to not do it enough

Re: Fruit , veggies and proteins and carbs
It's usually best to introduce veg slowly, so a small piece one day then maybe wait a few days before giving something else, if your ham is fine with that then build up to a small piece daily, give us much variety within the safe range as possible.
Fruit should be an occasional treat & not given often.
Other things like chicken & pasta or other treats maybe just once or twice a week.

Fresh fruit should be given maybe twice a week. Veggies can be fed a bit more often and eggs, chicken or pasta should be fed twice a week as well. If you're wondering what fruits and veggies to feed them, I give Ares strawberries and celery. If your ham is a dwarf, then it would be best to give them strawberries and celery like I do because dwarfs are at high risk of diabetes. If you have a Syrian then they're a bit more hardy and can eat more fruits more often.

Re: Fruit , veggies and proteins and carbs
Its best to start introducing fresh fruit and veg gradually to a hamster to prevent any tummy upsets. I normally feed my Syrian pieces of fresh veg every other day. Vegetables my girl loves are carrots (in moderation for a dwarf though), cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprout etc
I only feed fruit occasionally to my Syrian - as she prefers her veg and homegrown fruits. For Campbell/White White Hybrids it best to keep fruit to a minimum and avoid giving it to them on a regular basis.
