Russian Dwarf Hamster feeding?
Hi everyone, I'm new here so thanks for having me.
I got a new lovely little Russian Dwarf yesterday called Wilf.
I've found different information on feeding and it confuses me.
I know they're prone to diabetes so want to cut out all unnecessary sugars. I bought him some Harry Hamster food - I think the Tiny Friends tasty mix as it was recommended for dwarves. Is this an OK staple food for my little guy? I saw it contained Flaked peas and alfalfa meal...
Also, we got some Woodland's twig mix. Are these ok to give as they were recommended for gnawing and dental hygiene.
I really hope you can help as I'm confused and want this guy to be super happy. Me and my girlfriend are truly in love with him, we keep a lot of pets and pride ourselves on the care we give, but this is confusing me.
Thanks ever so much.

Re: Russian Dwarf Hamster feeding?
Congratulations. Wilf is lovely. Burgess dwarf hamster food may be better. It has small seeds and mealworms, which most dwarf hamsters love.
The twigs should be fine. He may not chew them though. A whimzee (dog chew) is often liked by hamsters.

Re: Russian Dwarf Hamster feeding?
Welcome to HC & congrats on Wilf, he's adorable
Harry Hamster can be a bit hard for dwarf hams to manage unless you break up the larger pieces for them, the Burgess mix CMB mentioned is better for them really, there is another mix available from Zooplus now too, Bunny dwarf hamsterdream expert the protein is a little lower in that one so would need supplementing with some extra mealworms or maybe a little dried chicken but it does have more variety than Burgess.
The sticks are fine, the best chew which they generally love it whimzees dog chews, the little toothbrush ones are used mostly, not all hams will chew wood or chew toys.
