Default Stool consistency

Hi there,

So I brought my syrian hamster Lil home yesterday.

She seems to be settling in very well but not eating lots of her muesli mix food yet.

I may be guilty of over feeding her fruit&vegetables.
So far I have given her approximately six 1cm pieces of cucumber, broccoli and apple (6 altogether, not of each). Is that excessive?

Her poos seem to be a bit soft. Not diarrhea at all, but i've just noticed she has pooed in her wheel and trodden it in a bit.

Should I leave off the fruit&veg for now? Or am I worrying unnecessarily?

Thanks in advance

Leave of for a few days. Then give 1 small piece every few days for a while. Introduce new foods gradually.

Sounds like you have introduced too much fruit and veg at once. Don't worry, I'm sure a lot of us ham owners are guilty of overfeeding too much fresh foods

Just don't feed her any more veggies/fruit for a few days. Then slowly introduce small pieces of new produce every 2-3 days.

You've been given good advice by CMB & CR

I'd just like to add that it's normal for a hamster's stool to squish when walked on. Thus, if she's going in her wheel, it's not abnormal for it to become quite messy in there
