Re: Best hamster mix?
Harry Hamster is your best choice for Syrians. For a dwarf of any species,Burgess dwarf is better, but the Syrian version of Burgess is not as good as Harry Hamster!
Of course, any mix can still do well with the addition of healthy extras.Things like freeze dried(equivalent to raw with no moisture,so the nutrients are extremely good and highly digestible whereas cooked does reduce the nutritional value, and these can be rehydrated if you really want with warm water preferably from a bottle as tap water can be dangerous if not filtered)chicken or other safe meats, dried mealworms(or live with the head pinched off, which would have more nutritional value),healthy extra seeds and nuts, tofu(use extreme moderation,as this is nowhere near as healthy as meat and the bioavailability of soy is quite poor in comparison especially considering it is also known to cause enzyme inhibition therefore fed too frequently could cause health problems including poor digestion and gas, along with numerous other issues that soy brings),etc.

Re: Best hamster mix?
Harry hamster is nutritionally a very good mix, so for Syrians you can't really go wrong with it as the dry food. That said, where I live I can't find good dwarf mix, so I combine Harry hamster, dried mealworms and millet (from the bird section, but be really careful it doesn't have any bird grit in it!)

Re: Best hamster mix?
Straight millet is wonderful!Just don't use the seed mixes for birds,as even without grit most have dyes or added flavors and especially tend to favor citrus additives which except for citric acid as a preservative would not be good.Break up the large pieces in Harry Hamster where possible, but other than that it isn't too bad of a last resort food for dwarf hamsters

Re: Best hamster mix?
Don't worry, I found a brand that does just millet, a small amount of seeds and some mineral additives that I've researched. The hammies love it.
