With things warming up a bit my sprouts have really taken off & are growing a bit too fast if anything lol! I don't usually give them to the hams so often but I think these are ready to go, filling out well & over 20cm tall!
(Excuse my messy plastikoting mat!)

Barley, kamut, canary seed, sunflower seed & a little of the shelled warrior mix to fill in the gaps.

I think this is a brilliant idea, I'm sure Pip will love it she loves eating grass on the lawn when I have let play in the garden...
Question, would cress be any good? I may also try growing lettuce and letting Pip have the young leaves when they get to about 2" or 50mm tall

Cress is fine, not all hams like it & you wouldn't want to give more than just a little nibble of that at any one time really.
My lettuces are about that size or just a bit smaller now & they get quite excited when they get a freshly picked leaf

BP don't be so hard with yourself, to me they look good, actually the ones backwards are a little bit patchy but the ones upfront are amazing. A tip to make them grow straight is to move them 180º every couple of days, that's what I do with my cactus (the only plant I'm able to grow apparently) because my window is also facing north and the cactus is in one corner of the room.

My spelt wasn't growing anymore, only the roots were growing, so I moved it to sand. I was afraid that I may ruin the roots as cypher suggested but they weren't growing anyway so I took the risk, I moved them with tweezers one by one and apparently I did it right because in one night they have grown more than the last couple of days. Let's see what happens....

I would like to post some photos but my cell is still dead and I'm not in the mood to grab the bigger camera. When I finish my state exams on Wednesday I'll show you my sprouts If there's anything to show

I really want to grow a few things for Larry-Jasper.

Sorry if you've already covered it, but what would be the best things to grow for Larry-Jasper that I could easily get hold of, as I really don't want to have to spend a lot. Also, where would be the best places to get mini terracotta plant pots? Whenever I've looked, I can never find any. Could I use these instead?

Thanks .

Btw, everyone's sprouts look amazing! Lucky hamsters.

Chesca don't use fibre pots, they'll probably get too wet & you don't want LJ eating them either!
If you google mini terracotta pots you'll find them on amazon, ebay, craft shops etc, I think I got mine from ebay but can't remember for sure now, the terracotta saucers tend to be expensive to buy online but most garden centres should have them.
Probably the easiest thing to start with, cheap too, is the shelled warrior mix, you could also do some sunflower seeds as I guess you'll already have those, they do tend to work better in either the jar or sand but I have managed to get some small ones (in the shell) to grow in fitch in the little pots.
If you have a look at the first post in this thread there are links to mixes to sow there.

BorisPasha and cypher your sprouts look amazing - I'm sure all your hamsters will enjoy eating those.

My sprouts are doing well they aren't a big as both of yours yet - I checked on them this morning and had noticed they have germinated. Here is a couple of photos of what mine a like at the moment - hopefully they will continue to grow well and Pumpkin can enjoy them soon!

These bowls are my millet

And these are my oat, wheat and barley (from this Great deals on Small Pet food at zooplus: Grow your own Small Pet Grass - I got it free with Zooplus points a couple of years ago and realised it was still in my hamster storage so have picked the seeds out)

Have to try this! I have tons of left over mini terra-cotta pots left over from a project...wish I lived in the UK, looks like there's a large selection of hamster seeds.
