(Too?) worried new hamster owner
So i finally got my new hamster (panini!). She is a dwarf hamster (seems like a winter white but since she is from a pet shop she might also be a hybrid).
I bought her two wheels: the silent spinner and the flying saucer. For now I only have the flying saucer in her cage since she had that in the pet shop as well and I didn't want to stress her out too much since she already had so much change. Since I have her near my bed I am aware of when her wake up time / sleeping time is at night. She wakes up around 23:30 and goes to bed around 08:00.
Anyway, what I am worrying about is her drinking behavior. I have read a lot of "scary" stories about diabetes and increase drinking might be a sign and since it might be a hybrid I am a little bit worried.
My hamster runs a lot at night, which is not negative, but she has a lot of breaks during her runs to drink. I haven't counted it, but last night it was approximately 5-7 times. Since I just got her two weeks ago and she is just starting to lose her shyness I cannot compare, but I read on forums that hamsters usually drink 1, maybe 2 times a day.
Is this because people usually do not notice this or is it something I should be worrying about? For me it seems normal that she drinks a lot during exercising but I am just worried since panini is still so young and I do not have a lot of experience yet.
I know that this is a Long explanation but I hope somebody can help me! ( i have tried reading older topics but somehow I am not convinced whether I should be worried or not)

Re: (Too?) worried new hamster owner
A Russian ham should only drink a tiny amount when healthy & that does sound like quite a lot of breaks to drink, check the bottle works well as sometimes the ball gets a bit stuck & they will keep going back for more if the water doesn't flow properly.
The easiest way to put your mind at rest is just to test her urine.
