Okey dokey. Thank you cypher.

I believe mini bonios are OK? I used to give them to the gerbils and I remember my childhood Syrians used to like them.

Something like freeze dried chicken would be a better treat.Purina,Pedigree, and a lot of other big brands aren't good at all.

A little bit on bonio once in a while is ok, I use the biscrok biscuits & give them at most half a one at any time, usually lasts a few weeks.

So I did in fact look even further than I had to into the Purina and Pedigree types of treats!Meat and animal derivatives are labelled even in the UK ones, which for those who aren't aware is essentially a loophole for companies to throw in slaughterhouse waste and such into animal treats. This can include euthanized animals containing lethal drugs still, blood, bones, intestines, feathers, and more.

I think the biggest problem with companies doing things like that is that people just don't know because they don't bother to look into what exactly something means all the time.Having things like meat and animal derivatives be acceptable enough for labels on products is terrible,it gives companies the ability to put in things that are completely unacceptable yet have no responsibility to allow pet owners to know what really goes into these things.

Aside from all that disgusting mess and shady business, things like freeze dried chicken are still great and there are still some good things out there!

Dokas Snack Chicken with Rice - Great deals at zooplus These are a very good option, not entirely meat based but still a much better composition than big brand products out there yet still quite affordable!

Thrive ProReward Chicken Dog Treats | Great deals at zooplus! These are air dried not freeze dried but it is still a safe process. Not quite so cheap, but still a fairly good price anyways for the quality!

Corwex Chicken Fillet | Great deals on Natural Dog Chews at zooplus! This might be really good as well, you'd have to cut it up though but it is also a very cheap option.

Rinti Extra Freeze-Dried Snacks - Sensible | Great deals at zooplus! Freeze dried chicken,a bit on the expensive side but you do get a very large amount(120g)and they are once again a good quality composition.

If I find more things I will definitely add them as well either by editing this post or making a new one!

I wouldn't give Lovejoys kibble to a ham but a little piece of Bonio is ok

Hardly any meat in them so won't do much towards the animal protein intake, but most hams love them and they're good for their teeth!

It's also hillarious seeing a teeny Robo trying to carry a big dog biscuit

Actually to be precise there is no meat at all in bonios

Meat and Animal Derivatives in dog food | All About Dog Food This can mean just about anything though, and since the law is so loose it can be things that are low quality at best and really they just aren't worth risking when there are way better treats out there.

Well yes, there is, whilst there may not be prime cuts of chicken breast or fillet steak, there are meat products in them. But we are going majorly off topic here! Thread is about treats for little Swift, not the quality of dog biscuits

A Bonio biscuit would be only occasional, so I will add that to the list.
I shall look for the pedigree milkbones, thank you Oreomyhammy.

AmityvilleHams: I don't know why you keep on about Pedigree etc, Lovejoy isn't made by them, it is, I believe an older version of James Wellbeloved, I had my dog on J.W. but he is only a little chap and struggles to eat the big pieces that you get with J.W. grain free, so I switched him to Lovejoy.
I had looked up Digest and this is what I read: Digest in dog foods
So it depends on the food, but by my understanding 'Digest' is only dangerous outside the EU.

Anyway, the thread is not about how good dog food is, so that's all I will say.
