food
Hi i am trying to find out what i can give my hamsters besides fruit and reading a thread i see a lot of you give them baby food, this may sound silly but do you have to heat it.
Also what foods can i give which need cooking and what does not need cooking.
Lol this may sound daft but mine are on harry hamster and they have a piece of carrot and cucumber so i am looking for other things as the harry hamster does not get eaten all up.

We have just the thing for you on the WIKI...a comprehensive list

The babyfood does not need heated. Cooked foods include chicken, egg, any meat type food and we cook ready brek / porridge too. Cool well before feeding

Re: food
the Harry hamster (or any hamster mix a person chooses) should be the main food and make up most of the diet, other stuff like veg or meat are just treats and shouldn't be given every single day. I'd just choose one small bit of one thing to give each day. I wouldn't feed baby food unless the ham was young, old or sick. It's too expensive and if they fill up on it then they won't eat the crunchy food which is essential for tooth wearing.
