Picky dwarf wont eat pellets.
So I recently lost my first hamster Chopstick to diabetes. I've had my second dwarf Chicken Nugget "Nugget" for a few months. I have oxbow pellets, but I read to add mealworms and seeds to them for more balanced nutrition. Well nugget would rather eat the mealworms and seeds and leave the pellets so I got Hazel Hamster. I'm just wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to mix these foods to make sure my baby stays healthy.

Re: Picky dwarf wont eat pellets.
None of my hammies like the Oxbow. I use the Harry or Hazel Hamster food for my Syrians and the Ecotrition food for my dwarf hamsters. I also give both of them Teclad block food. They get fresh fruit or vegetables about every other or every 3 days or so. They get different kinds of nuts at least 3 times a week. This seems to work for us.
The picture shows what the teclad looks like.
PS, I don't give my dwarf hammy any fruit, only vegetables. The fruit has too much sugar for the dwarf hammies.

Sugar depends on the individual fruit, amount of fruit given, etc. Some fruit would have relatively negligible amounts of sugar in the tiny sizes we give hamsters, for example a whole 140 gram banana only has about 17 grams of sugar. If feeding less than 2 grams of a banana, chances are you're getting less than 1 gram of sugar. Not much at all,as long as it is fed extremely infrequently no more than once every other week or so!
