Science Selective
The science selective biscuits FINALLY arived today! I just gave Sweep a couple with his food and he grabbed them from me, pouched them, and took them to bed with him! Yep, POUCHED THEM!
Anyway, my question is, if I feed them with his mix, how many can he have? I have seen youtube videos where people give their hamsters like 1 or 2, but could I give him half Harry Hamster and half these or give him these one day and the Harry Hamster the next? I am unsure!
Oh, and I think they smell gross but he clearly thinks they smell nice judging by the way he grabbed them lol

Re: Science Selective
The science selective biscuits do have a fairly well balanced GA so it doesn't really matter too much, some people feed them exclusively other people feed them in combination with the mix, the ratio isn't too important so you could try half & half or maybe just add a couple in with his mix when you feed him, it's up to you really, I do think variety is a good thing though so I would be inclined to feed less than half SS.
I have to agree about the smell lol! I have no idea how they manage to make it smell like that!

Re: Science Selective
Thanks. I want to keep the Harry Hamster because of the variety (and it's cheaper!) but as I now totally scatter feed I don't know what he is eating/not eating so got the science selective too, as a sort of add on if that makes sense. He seemed to like them though!
Have they always smelled like that? I can't rememebr if I had used them before or not but they made me feel sick! Not so bad today (had to smell them again this morning, just to see if they smelled different lol). Oops nearly put tasted - YUCK!

I've been buying Science Selective for about 18 months now and one of the first things I noticed about it was the smell. It almost put me off buying it again but there was nothing else that I could have fed one of my hamsters. He'd needed a soft diet as he'd lost teeth due to what was believed to be hereditary condition. Thankfully I got used to it as I later used it to feed an extremely picky eater who wouldn't eat much else. She adored it.
I now add it to my own mix that seems to go down quite well with my hams. I tend to break the pieces down a bit as it seems quite big for Chineseys.
