Default Freezing items with egg in?

Just wondered if anyone knows (Cypher?!) if you can freeze treats that contain egg. I'm not sure if it's cooked egg or raw egg that has been used to bind ingredients. I can't see it would be a problem although raw things that are frozen usually need cooking afterwards I think. Just bought some Rosewood mini rodent sticks - contains egg and egg products.

Not sure but I don't see why not, you can freeze cake & that has eggs in it.
I think those treats are baked so the egg binds them, I can't see raw egg doing the job & I doubt they would sell products with raw egg but I can't say for sure.

I freeze liver cake (with egg in - cooked) and raw beaten egg for my dog, and have defrosted both with no problems. I no longer need to freeze hamster treats as I have lots of little volunteers to help with leftovers!

Thanks! I'll give it a go then. It's probably mostly dried egg, but just in case they used raw egg, I just wasn't sure if it was ok! Good that you've tested it Freyashamsters (if you know what I mean lol). Thanks. In they go

I believe you can freeze raw eggs to, my mum normally freezes leftover egg whites (leftover from making ice cream) to make meringues. So even if the treats contained raw eggs it would be safe, if they were thawed properly. But as previously mentioned treats normally contain dried eggs so would be safe to be frozen either way.

Thanks! I just googled it - this says you can freeze them raw and use them but then they should only be used in dishes that are going to be thoroughly cooked. That's why I wasn't sure because I didn't know if the treat sticks had been baked with the egg in or just stuck together with raw egg. I guess they must have been cooked with the egg or the egg would go off and stink lol.

Thanks Hammy 2. Frozen rice is ok to reheat I wasn't worried about salmonella in eggs really, just that I thought raw frozen foods had to be cooked after defrosting. But it can't have raw egg in those treats or it would go rancid, so they must have been baked with the egg in I reckon.

Ok - I emailed Rosewood and asked them just to be sure They say it is raw egg that is used as a binder and they don't recommend freezing them because of that. So I guess now I've frozen them I'll have to bake them lol.
