Re: Banana chips
Been looking online to see whether I can't find any banana chips which have no sugar or preservatives on them except JR Farm Banana Chips are the only ones I can find, I linked Zooplus link in earlier post but here is there website JR FARM Banana-Slices-01650, only problem is you can only really get from Zooplus.

Re: Banana chips
A little bit of strawberry sounds like a nice treat
SKB I think you're just looking in the wrong places, google unsweetened banana chips UK & you'll find quite a few, just for humans not pets!

Re: Banana chips
I still think just buy some bananas lol! I give Charlie a slice and eat the rest myself - good for energy apparently, that's why tennis players eat them between rounds.

The natural sugars provide a form of energy, but only when they're ripe also known as not disgusting green bananas. The secret behind finding a good banana is finding a nice yellow and brown one since that is when the sugars are out most, while the green ones are still loaded with starches.

That is what I googled (I also tried searching natural banana chips) but when I click on any off the links the ingredients contain either honey, refined cane sugar, sugar, some don't say what the ingredients are or they are bulk order.

Re: Banana chips
I suppose if they're dried they will need some kind of preservative, whether it's sugar or chemicals.

Re: Banana chips
That's why I buy the JR farm ones as they have coconut oil on them and I know coconut is safe for hamsters, as I don't like to buy treats which have added sugar or honey.

The biggest bonus of freeze dried fruit is that there are no preservatives involved If you can find just plain freeze dried fruit it's the best option, but honey or coconut oil or any natural sugar would definitely be preferable to artificial sweetener of any type if freeze dried banana just isn't available. It should be possible to find it in a grocery store though, but that takes some local researching in person.

Really?! I heard you are supposed to eat the before to bed as they help you sleep?! Mind you nothing helps me sleep ...! I do give him banana occasionally, but he doesn't seem to eat it very much. Most of it is thrown on the floor! He didn't get his bit of strawberry - someone ate them all!! But he had to come out the cage for a while as we were trying to fix the shelves properly. They didn't work, so now he only has 1 shelf and it's lower than it was before! I think I might get those corner shelves again ... But anyway because of all the disruption he got a few extra treats!
