Protein, Fat, Fibre percentages at different ages
Hi everyone!
I know everyone will have different opinions, but what percentages of protein, fat and fibre are required for a baby pure bred Winter White? Same hamster but for an adult? And elderly hammy?
Please could you link any articles or anything that might help or just your opinion.
I am wondering because I am making my own hamster food. I know baby hamsters need more protein and elderly hams need more fibre so obviously these values change, but I have never found anyway that gives values other than the standard 19% protein, 6% fat and 8% fibre.
Thanks

I don't know exact figures either - but for protein it is supposed to 18 to 21% for a younger hamster and less for a hamster over a year old, I believe. Sorry that's not much help!

Re: Protein, Fat, Fibre percentages at different ages
I'd say around 17-18% for an older hamster, and probably around 21% for a young hamster. In between those for maintenance(in between ages)is good as well Not sure the exact science behind it but there are apparent health problems linked to too much protein in older hamsters.I think around 18-19% shouldn't hurt though but definitely no less than 16-17%.
