Different sizes?
I saw a video on youtube yesterday and someone had bought a small CAT bowl for their hamster. They said it was because hamsters like to sit on their food to protect. So I'm wondering whether anyne else has different sized bowls for their hamsters? My worry with bowls that are quite big is that food stays in there longer so it might go bad? I usually scatter around half of Sweep's food, though it doesn't always get eaten, but am wondering if it is worth me getting a big bowl and use that and keep the smaller ones for treats or fruit/veg etc?

Re: Different sizes?
I don't use food bowls! When I did I had a variety of sizes but mostly small ones. I've used cat bowls as sand baths. My dog eats from rabbit/guinea pig bowls

Re: Different sizes?
My hamsters are all scatter fed. I do leave little clumps of food on their shelves so that I can see that they are taking it.
The bowls I do have for them (not used except for Woodstock) are small and quite shallow. The roborovskis sit on theirs, Woody woodpecker just leans in.
You could always try one and see if they enjoy it.

Re: Different sizes?
I do use bowls for feeding our hammies, and all of their bowls are big enough for them to sit in. I did try scatter feeding with all of them, but the girls just gathered the food and placed it back in the bowls (or where the bowls were), and Ptolemy is too lazy to eat to go hunting. He'd just laid were the bowl had been looking sad, lol.
The largest bowl used though is a rabbit dish for Hime (Syrian). Ptolemy's bowl is shallow so he typically just leans in, or hangs his back legs off the rim (extremely lazy WW). Millie's bowl is barely big enough for her to get in, but anything bigger would stress her out. She tends to sit on top of her food "protecting" it while she eats. I do use cat dishes for sand baths as they are a great size for it.
