Default Grass?

Quick question, don't know if anyone has done this before.
You can get trays of grass that you can grow indoors for cats to eat I was thinking about getting one and having it as a feature in my Syrian's playpen as something he can climb around in and nibble at.

I have read that if you let your hamster outside (in a pen) that you shouldn't let them eat the grass as it could have chemicals/animal waste on it which could make them sick. However if I know the grass is clean and I have grown it indoors should that be ok? I just thought it would be nice to have a natural surface for him to walk around on.

Any thoughts?

It should be fine. You might want to find pesticide free soil that is certified to not contain anything bad though,as I doubt the kind from a pet store would.Definitely a good indoor playpen idea, but I wouldn't keep it in a cage just for the whole dirtiness soil can cause.Others may say otherwise though, but it's personal preference at the end of the day

Lots of people have used those trays, they are fine & some hams really love to have a nibble on them.

I get the little 'grow at home' grass trays from Zooplus, both my hams love them!

I started growing rodent grass... Then I added glover, and my ham loved it! Now I am adding canary food, it is all seeds and they grow very well. My Pizca has her own little garden, lol! It looks great and she eats what she wants from it
