I don't think I've really seen much on it,but it is definitely something I'll be doing. It'll be a lot better than feeding extra things but I'll definitely still offer a few treats occasionally!

I forgot to say about dried fruit & veg which was asked about, any veg that's safe to feed fresh is ok dried too although none of mine have been particularly keen on dried veg really & fresh has more vitamins so that's mostly what they get.
Syrians can have more dried fruit than some of the dwarf hams but do check carefully as it can have preservatives which you really don't want your ham to have.
Apple, raisin & banana are the most commonly used dried fruits.

Some fruit is preserved with sulfur dioxide which is fairly common in pet food mixes(not Higgins, they use no chemical preservatives ever but unsure on others)and that seems to be the primary concern and probably a big part of what you're talking about.

If in doubt, just get freeze dried instead since there is no chemical drying involved.I would also not feed grapes often, nor would I feed raisins often at all either due to the effects they can have on other animals that I at least would rather not find out if hamsters can have as well.
