Also, do you know if it's okay to give lentils to hamsters? I always have lentils in my house so it'd be really easy to give some to the ham.

Not sure.Types of lentils vary, but they have to be cooked no matter what.Someone else might have more information on exact types that are safe though!

Okay! Cooking isn't a problem, I can cook a little bit unspiced before I make my own. I have red lentils and urad (black) lentils.

Okay, I will. :P
I wish fish was a natural part of the hamster diet. The pet stores here have sooooo many different kinds of fish to feed your pets.

Pet stores sell tons of fish but it isn't even that good for cats to be honest. If there are any good options for healthier cat and dog treats with safe ingredients though,it's worth looking into instead

Re: Protein and Fiber Supplements
I was thinking about that at the pet store today, since I've heard a lot of people say they incorporate cat or dog kibble into their hamster's diet. I don't even know where to begin on which food is good for a hamster though, and I'm not sure why it's beneficial anyway (plus, I can't carry a big bag of dog food home. I don't have a car). The store I went to today did have a buttload (pardon my french) of different treats for cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, birds, etc. So I may experiment a little.

If in doubt, just put the ingredients into a post and ask if it is okay!Something that is very popular is millet, especially with dwarf hams since they're smaller seeds so some Syrians might not be as fond of them.If you have plain freeze dried fruits available those are great, but you might only be able to find them in a grocery store. Not sure what you'd be able to find overall but definitely consider options from grocery stores as well like tofu, different seeds and nuts and fruit and vegetables, and things like that!If in doubt though always ask

I think most people feed small amounts raw,but it's great for protein just like it is for humans
