Questions on Treats
I’m not sure how much treats I can give Georgia, per day; have been going with tablespoon as the maximum. And how often I can give her treats?
She doesn’t like chicken, apple, and banana, likes egg and carrots with I’ve tried so far. Been scrolling through ErinsAnimals safe and unsafe food list for what I can give her multiple times and I’m tempt to buy store treats. So far I had gave her some egg daily since Thursday due to her main food only has 15% protein.

Re: Questions on Treats
A tablespoon of treats per day sounds like rather a lot!
It's unusual for a syrian not to like chicken but it may be worth giving mealworms a try for extra protein, some like them some don't so it can be a bit hit & miss. Egg really isn't good for them given too often, once a week is enough so you do need to look at alternative protein foods which you won't find in commercial treats.
Any seeds or nuts you give will provide some extra protein but also quite a bit of fat so you do need to go easy on those.
I wouldn't worry about fruit but do try her with lots of different veg (within the safe list) to see what she likes & give her as much variety as possible, a thumbnail size piece or one or maybe two veg per day.
Don't give up on additional foods too quickly, sometimes it can take a few tries before they accept something new.

Re: Questions on Treats
I don’t give her that much, its just if I hit that amount, means no more treats that day. Georgia took the chicken from me, nibble on it, put on the ground and walked away. So only give her one seed/nut per day? And the maximum amount of treats is the size of my thumbnail?

Re: Questions on Treats
My Syrian does that with chicken and eggs and sometimes other treats when she thinks shes getting something else so maybe just offering chicken and leave it for a while she might go back to it?

Re: Questions on Treats
I also give my hamsters one or two of these little pretzel treats I got from Wal-Mart but only one or two per MONTH at most. They love them but they're not healthy. Treats are treats and not meant to be given very often.

Re: Questions on Treats
You could give a few seeds a day, depends what they are really but nuts not more than once or twice a week, which nuts are you giving & are they in the shells or not?
How long did you leave the chicken?

Re: Questions on Treats
I haven’t gave her any seeds/nuts yet. Been going with what’s in the house at the moment as my mom does the grocery shopping. Not sure which food to ask my mom to get first, since the list is so big. I also use some of her main food for the day with taming.
I took the chicken out after a few minutes, not wanting it to spoil and be yelled at by my mom for the smell. I tried chicken again today, not exactly sure what she did with it as she was mostly in her nest.

Re: Questions on Treats
Always check the next day if you give chicken or other fresh foods you don't actually see them eat to be sure it isn't hoarded away somewhere.

Re: Questions on Treats
I usually get lettuce (green leaf), carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and sometimes red pepper. (Stuff that I would eat or use for a salad and then red peppers because I have a rabbit and Bird as well so it won't go to waste)
