Default Introducing veggies to baby hamsters

Just wondering, how long do people leave it after taking a new hamster home to introduce them to new foods, such as veggies etc.? I've recently taken a new little girl home, but can't for the life of me remember how long I left it with my last little guys!

Everybody will tell you different but I leave mine alone for a minimum of one week. My last RCD 2 mo old dwarf hamster I left him alone for 17 days. I was sick during this time so that's partly why but also he hid under the bedding the whole time. After 17 days he stopped hiding and was ready to explore so I took him out into a taming bin and he has never hid underneath the bedding again. I think that if I would have rushed things I wouldn't have as a secure hamster as I have now? He sleeps on top of the bedding now behind his wheel on some days

As long as the ham appears to be healthy & settling in ok, not unduly stressed I tend to introduce veg pretty much straight away, at least within a few days.
Very slowly though, try different things, small piece of one veg then maybe wait a couple of days then try a small piece of a different veg, the more variety they can have the better but just do it gradually.
If you want to change the main mix it's best to do that slowly giving a bit of the old & the new slowly increasing the new food if they take to it ok.
With healthy treats maybe just try one or two new things a week.

Small pieces will be fine. I waited about 3 weeks before introducing Twinkle, broccoli is a big favourite with hams.

Thanks everyone! My little lady seemed to be seems a little nervous, so I think I'll hold off on introducing new foods for a week or two (she's only been with me since the weekend)

One of the first foods for baby hamsters is vegetables as they are softer than seeds. So You should be ok giving veg to your hamster.

I wouldn't hold back on the veg just because she's nervous, they really are an important part of the diet & more interesting things in the cage to come out & investigate may actually help.
If you're unsure which veg to give just ask.
